Simply do it

There has been a lot of discussion going on about the energy transition in this country. Janitza follows the stipulation: “Simply do it.” The company from Lahnau leads by example – and that quite successfully.

In 2022, Janitza opened a new site in Wetzlar; last year, there was the ground-breaking ceremony for the “Future Factory” at their headquarters in Lahnau; this March, Janitza surpassed the mark of 500 employees. It’s hard to keep track of the company’s development. We’ll try anyway.

Janitza’s recent ENERGY DAY was all about the big picture: about climate change and the future of the next generations, about technological innovation and social initiatives which contribute to advancing the much-discussed energy transition. On the podium, none other than Ranga Yogeshwar gave a speech in which he made no secret of how much these topics bothered him personally. In a live poll, he asked the audience how such a big transition might succeed: “Is it mainly through technology? Or perhaps by contemplating the justifiability of the previous situation and the alteration of the culture?” The answer of the audience was unambiguous: It was the culture that needed changing.

Ranga Yogeshwar was one of the experts at Janitza ENERGY DAY 2025.

Janitza, as became obvious not only during the ENERGY DAY, is working on both: on a cultural and on a technological change. As one of the worldwide leading developers and manufacturers of system solutions for smart energy management, Janitza actively drives the technological transition forward. As for the cultural transition, the energy experts from Lahnau set the best example in their own company. About 280 measurement points are installed at the Lahnau site. The distribution of the already sustainably produced power can thus be controlled through intelligent load management. Moreover, Janitza is consistently increasing the degree of self-sufficiency: “With our PV solar systems, we are now able to cover 100 percent of our own power requirements at times – and also feed electricity into the power grid,” points out Patrick Steiss, energy manager at Janitza. By 2030, Janitza intends to have their energy related emissions reduced to zero.

This sounds as if the Janitza company should be imagined as some kind of oversized showroom in which the technological and cultural energy transition has been implemented in a downright exemplary manner. Maybe, but this would be missing the point. For Janitza does not put up a facade but has acquired and broadened an enormous expert knowledge for almost forty years. With perseverance and incredible innovative strength. Together with and for their customers. In a systematic way and with the unmatched skill to develop specific solutions for different industrial branches and fields of application – no matter if they are required for buildings or infrastructure, for the manufacturing industry, data centers, or power utilities.

All Janitza products and systems are aimed at intelligent energy management.

Proprietor Markus Janitza has systematically nurtured the expert knowledge of his teams. When we met him for an interview three years ago, he enthused: “Our growth is based quite substantially on the motivation and the dedication of our teams who occasionally surpass themselves.” To the present day, this hasn’t changed one bit. Quite the contrary: The growth curve goes steeply upwards; the number of employees continues to rise; on the management board, the commitment, expert knowledge, and responsibility has been divided among several people since last year. In order to further strengthen the growth course and to successfully internationalize the business divisions, Janitza expanded the management board with Rudolf Müller, Alexander Veidt, Axel Hessenkämper, and Michael Kadziela.

One significant aspect of the growth course is the issue of future proofing. For that purpose, Janitza makes sustainable investments, following three considerations: keeping with the environment, financially solid, and with social responsibility. With their generous commitment to, for example, the “Elternverein für leukämie- und krebskranke Kinder Gießen e.V.” (parents’ association for children suffering from leukemia and cancer) and Wetzlar’s food bank “Tafel”, Janitza lights a beacon for local responsibility and shows that economic success and social commitment may go hand in hand.

For the groundbreaking of the Future Factory a time capsule marking this historic moment was prepared.

Right now, the focus is on the new building project in Lahnau as the biggest investment in the company’s history. The “Future Factory” has been thoroughly designed for the requirements of future generations. It will provide 71 percent more production space and 150 percent more office space and will be completely carbon-neutral in its operation and self-sufficient with regard to its energy supply. With an overall area of more than 10,000 square meters, this “Future Factory” will provide space for 300 new jobs, thus strengthening the local economy. The newly constructed building will be finished by mid-2026. Another milestone in the success story of Janitza.
