After the fair is before the fair. Up to now, this has held true for the W3+ FAIR / CONVENTION in an annual rhythm. From now on, the network fair for high-tech innovations will take place twice a year: in Wetzlar and in Dornbirn.
More than 2,700 trade visitors came to Wetzlar attracted by the network fair under the slogan “Home of High-tech Innovations”. About 200 exhibitors and partners were represented, and many great players such as OptoTech, Schneider, Carl Zeiss, Harmonic Drive, and Meopta attended the fair. More than 40 subject specialists, among them spokespeople from Airbus, Schunk, and the internationally staffed EPIC TechWatch, shared their knowledge in a high-quality lecture program. Visitors also showed a keen interest in the special exhibition area “Additive Production / 3D-printing”.
Apart from the partner region Xuchang in China, many international guests came from the USA, Israel, Argentina, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, and Turkey. Full-scale networking between the exhibitors was facilitated at the aperitif party given by Swiss thematic network Swissphotonics. The German association for materials management, procurement and logistics (BME) attended the fair as a partner for the first time with a breakfast for senior purchasing managers and a key note presentation. The event in Wetzlar was supported by the industrial network Wetzlar Network and the European Photonics Industry Consortium EPIC as Golden Partners.
“We are very happy that the fair in Wetzlar was again well received by exhibitors and visitors this year,” Jörg Brück, project director at Fleet Events, sums it up, “and we are really looking forward to the first W3+ FAIR / CONVENTION in the Rhine Valley.” As it is, the networking fair will take place in Dornbirn on September 18th and 19th, 2019 for the first time. The area at the junction of the four countries Austria, Switzerland, Germany, and Liechtenstein, with Dornbirn as the central trade fair location, ranges among the top ten of Europe’s 1,200 technology regions. Prime companies from industries such as precision technology, precision mechanics, optics, and electronics are located in the Rhine Valley.
“We chose this region because we will be able to enlarge the network which was initiated in Wetzlar by incorporating many enterprises of great potential,” Jörg Brück explains. More than 50 companies and partners have already booked their stand at the new location, among them key players Swissoptic from Switzerland, Optics Balzers from Liechtenstein, and Swarovski Optik from Austria. Many other European enterprises, such as the PM-Group, Anteryon Optical Solutions, ILT Fineworks, and the Lucassen Groep from the Netherlands, a joint stand from Thuringia as well as Delta Optical Thin Film from Denmark have also confirmed their participation. Another positive answer came from the Swiss research and innovation center Rhysearch which promotes technology transfer in the sectors optical coating, precision manufacturing, and packaging technology.
Keynote presentations will be given by Continental and Optics Balzers, among others. Added to that, the intense transfer of knowledge will be provided by a wide-ranging program of lectures. EPIC and Swissphotonics will support the event as Golden Partners. Competency partners such as the German association of high-tech industries Spectaris, the IVAM Microtechnology Network and the Wetzlar Network will attend to bring experts from different industries together. “Participation is really uncomplicated for companies,” Jörg Brück points out, “we offer a compact and inexpensive full package which is well-structured and makes costs and expenditures manageable for the exhibitors.”
There is already every indication that the W3+ FAIR / CONVENTION in the Rhine Valley will be the perfect addition to the fair in Wetzlar. Ralf Niggemann from Wetzlar Network is enthusiastic: “It is a real gain that our network fair is going abroad and expands into one of the most innovative high-tech regions of Europe to that.”
