Germany’s handball league is one of the strongest in the world. The first team of the HSG Wetzlar has been right at the top for almost 15 years.
Wetzlar plays in the top league. As far as sports are concerned, this is particularly true of the successful HSG Wetzlar handball team. The team has competed in the first German league since 1998 and has become a permanent fixture in the region. It plays its home games in the Rittal Arena.
The HSG Wetzlar celebrated its greatest successes in 1998, when the first men’s team proved that it is not only among the best nationwide. Besides moving up into the first German league, the HSG reached the European Cup Winners’ Cup final the same year.
