Everybody is talking about “Big Data”. Why? Because this subject does not only pervade our private lives but to an increasing extent also the day-to-day business in economy and industry, in research and in science. This is exactly where the new Bachelor’s degree program “Data Science” at the Justus-Liebig-University Gießen comes in. Knowledge in the fields of programming, mathematics, modeling, but also methods of artificial intelligence and machine learning as well as ethical and legal basics in data practices will be imparted in the standard period of study of six semesters. The students have the choice of numerous options to provide them with an insight into the various fields of application for Data Science. They may follow-up their first graduation as Data Scientist (B.Sc.), which already qualifies them for a profession, with a consecutive four-semester master program.
