Project Ideas Taking Shape

Wetzlar Network & ELI Institute

Leica Microsystems and Brückmann Elektronik met up with experts of the ELI Institute in Prague to initiate potential cooperation projects.

There’s a lively exchange of information, the contacts have been made. The first ideas for joint projects of companies in the Wetzlar region and the ELI Institute in Prague are taking shape.

The Brückmann Elektronik company intends to start forging concrete project plans in October already with the aim of developing fast image processing systems for applications in medical technology, quality control and the food industry. The Lahnau-based specialist manufacturers of electronic assemblies, switchgear and control systems are ideally qualified for this challenge. The ELI Institute has the necessary application expertise. The joint project is in the application phase for funding by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). Other partners from industry and academia are welcome to participate.

Leica Microsystems is also interested in a joint project concerning applications of ultrashort (femtosecond) laser pulses in microscopy. The company plans to observe the results of the cooperation with the ELI scientists and follow up further ideas at the appropriate time.
