OptoTech Optikmaschinen

30 Years

OptoTech Optikmaschinen celebrated 30th anniversary. For founder and managing director Roland Mandler the future of his company has only just begun.

The real Oktoberfest did not take place in Bavaria last year, but in the middle of Hessen – in Wettenberg, to be more precise, where OptoTech Optikmaschinen GmbH celebrated its 30th anniversary in a party tent with veal sausage, knuckles of pork, dumplings and original Bavarian wheat beer. More than 180 employees and their families came to the celebration, quite a few of them in traditional Bavarian costumes. They were entertained by the well-known accordeon player Vassily Dück, whose music conjured up the atmosphere of the Oktoberfest.

The fact that the day coincided with the 25th anniversary of the German reunification provided managing director Roland Mandler with a fitting opportunity to welcome the staff of the Jena facility, too. The OptoTech company, said Mandler, was a good example of “what belongs together, is growing together”. He remembered how he had set up his own company in his garage on October 1st, 1985. The growth of OptoTech into a global enterprise over the past 30 years would not have been possible without the efforts and the commitment of all the employees.

Today, OptoTech has the broadest range of machinery and process technology on the world market for both precision and ophthalmic optics. But the success story has not come to an end, according to Mandler: After 30 years, he still sees OptoTech as a start-up with incredible potential and believes the future of OptoTech has only just begun.
